The Wildfire Story

Wildfire began with a simple spark in 2000 at the Fire Department Instructors Conference. Standing in front of a “Dealers Wanted” sign, business leader John Wright and career firefighter David Evans saw an opportunity—and followed it. With the manufacturer’s brush truck plant located nearby in Keller, Texas, they jumped in and began selling trucks to departments across the region.

In 2004, fellow career firefighter Don Gibson joined the team part-time. Not long after, the manufacturer moved their brush truck operations to Indiana. The long-distance partnership made it clear: if we wanted to keep serving firefighters the right way, we needed to build the trucks ourselves.

So that’s exactly what we did.

What started in a one-bay shop grew into a three-bay facility, and by 2008 John had purchased land in Alvarado where our office and 10,000-square-foot shop were built. In 2016, we added a 12,000-square-foot parts warehouse and chassis storage facility to keep up with growing demand.

Since then, Wildfire has built more than 500 brush trucks, 300+ skid units, 125+ command vehicles, and hundreds of custom installations—each one shaped by real-world experience. Our team brings over 125 years of combined fire service knowledge to the table, giving us a genuine understanding of what firefighters need and what the job demands.

At Wildfire, we’re proud to serve those who serve their communities—building equipment we trust, because we’ve been on the front lines ourselves.
